My photography residency in Sousse with The New Medina was an exploration in non-extractive storytelling through photography, particularly travel photography. Sousse's Medina boasts a bustling marketplace brimming with vibrant fresh produce, colorful arrays of spices that are a feast for the eyes, hundreds of distinct striking blue, yellow and floral painted doors and meandering pathways designed for people to collide and converse.

I was especially struck by how every day brought a new energy with the confluence of movement from every cat to every food carts to every bike! To be in the Medina of Sousse is to be immersed in dynamic beauty and magic.

Over the two weeks, I had the wonderful opportunity to create portraits of people and place, and at the culmination of the residency, The New Medina hosted a gallery open to all Medina residents.
